Annexe Police approved Bicycle Shed keeps bikes protected during an attack
Asgard is becoming a popular go-to bike storage provider for professional athletes with over 35 athletes choosing an Asgard shed to store their bikes in! When discussing our bicycle storage options, 15 of our British athletes picked a Secured by Design (Police) approved cycle shed, prioritising security above anything else, including professional cyclist turned cycling coach, Monica Dew!
Monica’s now feeling very thankful as she woke up recently to find her Annexe Secured by Design (Police) approved shed been attacked by thieves - but they didn’t get in! Her bikes were safe!

While protecting her bicycles and cycling equipment, the Annexe cycle shed had undergone significant damage to the doors, with the thieves trying to drill the shed locking mechanism and surrounding area, along with using a crowbar on the doors to prise them apart. Even with this strong and aggressive attack, the shed managed to stand up to the thieves and they left before gaining entry to anything (and before being caught with the metal shed making loud noises when attacked!) Always great to hear when one of our sheds beats the bike thieves, Shortly after the unsuccessful break in attempt, Asgard sent out their in-house shed installation team to visit Monica to examine the damage, with two new replacement doors needed. The team took away the old doors for Asgard’s engineers to examine further, before being recycled with the non-recyclable handle was converted to energy (EFW).

For extra security, the Asgard team called on their recent collaboration with fellow Secured by Design member Yale home security to offer Monica a CCTV security camera with night vision, integrated light and siren which also alerts the user's phone, and an additional Yale ground anchor to add a further internal barrier. With the strength and expertise of both Yale and Asgard, we hope to foil any future bike theft attempts.

Which Asgard Bicycle Shed did Monica have? Monica opted for an Asgard Secured by Design (Police) approved Annexe bike shed - a compact 6ft x 4ft size designed to hold her 3 bikes. While the shed is small, it's fitted with mighty security features including an integral base that bolts to the floor to stop thieves from prising up the shed or trying to move the shed. The Annexe also features a 5-point locking with a handle that's designed to shear off if forced and a pick-and-drill resistant EN1303-rated lock barrel. The shed’s galvanised steel construction also features reinforced doors, panels and hinges. These additional security features have been independently tested by The Loss Prevention Certification Board and are an SBD Police preferred specification, giving Monica complete peace of mind. |
