Abandoned Dogs Seeking Refuge In Sheds

News  | By Asgard

Shockingly approximately 100,000 dogs are taken into animal shelters every year in the UK. The majority of these animals are found wandering the streets however it has come to light that a significant number of stray and unwanted dogs are found in garden sheds. Sadly when abandoned a dog looks for it's nearest place of survival, normally trying to find somewhere sheltered from the rain and cold winds. Staying in these conditions can put these animals in grave danger due to some of them being near collapse due to damp and rot and even the best of structures are a dangerous habitat due to containing garden tools such as trowels and pitch forks which can cause serious harm to a dog if it is found caught up in it.

The Dogs Trust are urging shed owners nationwide to make sure their sheds are fully locked and non accessible to any animal or if it is ill structured to replace or dismantle their shed to prevent the harm to these dogs. Not giving these dogs an option of shelter will not harm these dogs as such but the dogs trust are hoping that instead will allow these animals to find safe shelter locations or hopefully bring them out in public to be turned in to re homing centres to give them the greatest chance of survival and hopefully a new start at life.

A rotting and damp shed is not only a danger to animals but humans alike, these structures are ticking time bombs and are only a strong gust of wind away from collapse. Here at Asgard we have a wide range of affordable metal garden sheds which can be a simple investment to prevent harm to both animals and humans alike as well as possessions kept in your shed.

Additionally having a shed that is not secure full of garden tools is also a security risk as well as a danger risk. Having an easily accessible shed means it is a target to thieves as well as a risk if you have your own animals or children roaming around your garden. We pride ourselves here at Asgard on our high security metal sheds some of which which are even insurance approved to allow even the most skilled burglars no access to your shed.

If you'd like to enquire about any of our high security metal sheds please do not hesitate to contact us on 03456 580 730 or speak to one of our in house professionals via our live chat messenger on our website.
