Mother Nature doesn’t like to rush things, as evolution has shown, so its no wonder how delicate and intricate things can be. We’ve been doing some garden research and decided to share even more facts with you! Garden Facts 01According to the Guinness Book of Records, the tallest ever sunflower grew to 7.76m high! Garden Facts 02 Lots of plants are used as dyes. One of the oldest blue dyes comes from a plant called Woad that has been used since Neolithic times – over 6000 years!Garden Facts 03 Phytoplankton are tiny plants that can’t even be seen with the naked eye. But amazingly they produce half the oxygen in the world!Garden Facts 04 According to the Guinness Book of Records, the world’s longest cucumber was grown in Essex, UK in 1986 and measured a whopping 1.1m (3ft 8in).Garden Facts 05 It takes at least 5 years for a Bluebell seed to grow into a bulb!Garden Facts 06 Seaweed contains a kind of gloopy jelly stuff that helps it hold onto water. It is also very useful for all sorts of other things - the carrageenan used for thickening ice cream comes from seaweed!Garden Facts 07Did you know, carrots actually come in a range of colours? White and yellow carrots come from Europe, and purple ones come from the Middle East. The orange ones are a fairly recent invention, created by crossing various other colours.
