Toby Hockley was knocked from his bike in Norfolk, earlier this week, which resulted in him being thrown into a hedge. Luckily for Tony he only suffered minor injuries, however the driver of the vehicle which struck him failed to stop or acknowledge their actions.
Normally, this is where the tale usually ends. Cyclist knocked down by motorist, who carries on driving like nothing ever happened and the culprit usually doesn’t get caught. That may have been the case, if the driver hadn’t tweeted later that day “Definitely knocked a cyclist off his bike earlier. I have right of way- he doesn’t even pay road tax! #Bloodycyclists.”
This tweet was then spread and retweeted hundreds of times for the whole world to see. It wasn’t long before twitter users had informed the police, identified the woman and tracked down her employer, letting them know what had happened.
The driver has since been contacted by Norwich police via twitter, telling her to come forward and report the collision at the police station. The Norwich police have also been in contact with the cyclist to investigate the situation.
