Asgard are proud to have supplied Olympic Gold Medalist, Elinor Barker with a secure Asgard shed to store her bikes in.

 

Having recently met up with Elinor about a new high security shed installation for her bike, we wanted to wish her the best of luck in next year’s Commonwealth Games, hosted in Australia.

 

To celebrate her achievements in cycling, we’ve created this infographic, looking at the Welsh cyclist's career.

 

Elinor Barker Facts

 

  • Elinor Jane Barker, born 7th September 1994.

  • Attends Llanishen High School in Cardiff.

  • Barker takes up cycling at the age of 10, with the Maindy Flyers, who are based at Maindy Pool and Cycle track. She joined so she could get out of swimming class!

  • Recruited into British Cycling’s Olympic Development Academy, based in Manchester. However, she remained in Wales until she had completed her A Levels in 2013.

  • After 2013 she moved to Manchester, so she could train full time at the Manchester Velodrome.

  • In 2012 Elinor became the Junior Time Trial world champion, having completed the 15.6km course in Valkenburg, Netherlands in 22 minutes, 26.29 seconds, beating Cecille Ludvig.

  • Also in 2012 , Barker was named Carwyn Junior Sportswoman of the Year at the BBC Wales Sports Personality of the Year Awards.

  • In 2013 Elinor became the senior world champion, whilst a member of the Team Pursuit squad at the UCI Track World Championships.

  • Becomes member of the Matrix-Fitness Vulpine team in 2015.

  • Wins gold medal in the Team Pursuit at the Rio 2016 Olympics and breaking the world record.

  • Appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2017 New Year Honour for her services to cycling.
